    The Other Half of Yoga


    Yin yoga is sometimes thought of as “the other half” of yoga. To truly complete your yoga practice and experience the wholeness of the benefits of yoga, consider adding this style to what you are already doing. Or, if you have been nervous or intimidated by yoga in the past, feel like you are not “fit” enough to do yoga or have some injuries that may make a more traditional yoga class difficult for you, Yin yoga is a great place to start.


    Unlike the more traditional, active styles of yoga (sometimes referred to as Yang styles), which physically focus on stretching and strengthening the muscles through movement and flow, Yin yoga shifts its focus to stretching the connective tissue of the body – the ligaments, tendons, joints and fascia. In order to do this, there is less movement and more stretching and holding poses for longer periods of time – usually 3-6 minutes. Don’t worry – you are not going to be trying to stay in Downward Dog, Plank, or Tree poses for this long! In Yin yoga, the goal is to use minimal muscular effort – so instead of using your arms to hold you in place, we use bolsters and blankets to support you, so you can relax into the stretch. Think spinal twists and seated forward bends. Many people love the meditative benefits of a Yin practice as well.

Especially for those of us that are new or feel really uncomfortable with rejection. Saying No, even when we know we should and we want to, can be an enormous challenge for some.

    And that's okay - In this class, we will explore some of the reasons why saying No can be so difficult. We'll discuss ways that we can discover what our boundaries are, and how we can comfortably communicate those boundaries to others.     It's Our Anniversary!


    July 1, 2017 marks the 1-year Anniversary of The Columbus Space for Alternative Self Expression! 

    Join us for hamburgers, hot dogs, and prizes!

    We are so excited and honored to have made it this far and see our little dream come to life. The Directors put our creative minds together and created a safe place where we can all be our authentic selves and experience new forms of self-expression in a safe and non-judgmental environment. You can find us searching, going to seminars, and always trying new things in order to create or bring those unique experiences here for our members. Our favorite thing though, is when someone walks into The Space and says “I never knew such an excepting place like this existed in Columbus”. It is so fulfilling to empower someone to bring their ideas, their relationships, their kinks, and their worldviews to The Space; and then watch them walk back out into their lives being more focused and aware of who they really are as a member of a community.

    We want to thank everyone who came into The Space over the last year. We want to celebrate with you and share in our excitement about what is next. So, to celebrate with YOU we are going to have an Open House. We will have Hamburgers, Hotdogs, and the fixings, plus we’ll do some giveaways, whoop whoop!

    Many ancient peoples believed that all animals had something to teach us, and that each of us has a primary animal totem that stays with us throughout our life journey, as well as teacher totems that come to us at various times when we need their help. Have you been curious to find out what your animal totem is? Join Rev. Dawn as she shares her knowledge and experience with animal totems, including the powerful shadow totem. She will give you some tools on how to work with them, including taking you on a journey to find your primary totem.

She believes in the power of rites of passage and has helped others with various rites of passage….from weddings and hand fasting, baby blessings, celebrating graduations and accomplishments, mourning losses and funerals, as well as cathartic rituals. She takes on this responsibility of clergy with strength and enthusiasm.

    Besides being clergy, Rev. Dawn is also a spirited energy worker and Reiki Master/Teacher. She loves to help others on their healing path and also teaches various skills in the realms of energy work, spiritual work and various other modalities.

    Unlike the more traditional, active styles of yoga (sometimes referred to as Yang styles), which physically focus on stretching and strengthening the muscles through movement and flow, Yin yoga shifts its focus to stretching the connective tissue of the body – the ligaments, tendons, joints and fascia. In order to do this, there is less movement and more stretching and holding poses for longer periods of time – usually 3-6 minutes. Don’t worry – you are not going to be trying to stay in Downward Dog, Plank, or Tree poses for this long! In Yin yoga, the goal is to use minimal muscular effort – so instead of using your arms to hold you in place, we use bolsters and blankets to support you, so you can relax into the stretch. Think spinal twists and seated forward bends. Many people love the meditative benefits of a Yin practice as well.



    The longer pose holds and less movement allow your mind to focus on your meditation. This is sometimes the more challenging part of the practice for some people, and others, the more freeing side of their yoga practice.

    I invite you to join us and see if Yin is your “yoga crush” as well! All body sizes, shapes and capabilities are welcome, accepted and loved. In Yin yoga, modifications are a rule, not an exception. You will learn to work with and love your body if you are not there already. I look forward to sharing my practice with you!

    From Erotic To Stingy!


    This demo will teach multiple ways to use the dragontail. You will learn how to vary the speed and the sensation from Erotic to stingy. You will learn how to practice these impacts and how to pinpoint your targeting for accuracy.

    Using a demo submissive, Sir Randy will show you how to duplicate his play style to achieve eight different impacts for maximum enjoyment.

    Shortly after participating in this class many attendees write Sir Randy to thank him for introducing them to their new favorite toy. They say their dragontail is now the first toy out of the toy bag and the last toy to be put away.


    Sir Randy has been active in the kink scene since 1993. With a background as a hobby shop owner and teaching crafts for over 10 years, it was natural for him to start building kinky toys for personal use. It did not take long for others to notice the quality and beauty of his toys. Dragontailz, the company, was born in 2002.

    Jim Donovan M.Ed., Professional Musician, Assistant Professor at Saint Francis University, is a master facilitator, inspirational trainer and world-class musician with over 25 years of leadership, teaching and performance experience. Donovan has presented hundreds of events across the US and Europe where he has helped many thousands of people learn effective ways to consciously lead, connect and live healthier, more productive lives.


    As a member of the 3-time platinum band Rusted Root, he co-wrote and performed “Send Me on My Way,” a song whose unforgettable whistle has been featured in both Matilda and Ice Age. His touring work with Rusted Root provided ample opportunity to share the arena stages with rock legends such as Carlos Santana, members of Led Zeppelin and Sting, among others.


    He is the author of the book “Drum Circle Leadership” and regularly offers training to organizations that teach people how to facilitate creative group music-making as a way to enhance wellness and social connection. These events include specialized, evidence-based programs for people who work with individuals with disabilities such as Autism and with those in the addiction and recovery environment.
