Part 1 of a special two part event. This event is followed by a formal tea service that same night!
Do you and your Dominant dig the energy built during table service? Are you interested in learning about how table service can enhance D/s? With all of the information out there, it’s hard to know where to start, and with every situation being so different from the next, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
Join SpankyRae, mocha, and wenday, the crew behind the Afternoon Tea at The Space, for an in-depth learning lab about what it takes to serve an excellent cup of tea with class and style. Not only will you gain great practical information regarding teas and fancy table settings, but you’ll also learn how to serve it graciously and mindfully. After an afternoon full of learning and practicing, we’re inviting D-types to come sit at our beautifully set table for delicious tea and mindful service.
Classes:
All About the Leaves: Selecting, Pairing, and Brewing Tea.
Do you like herbal teas? Do you know how to pronounce rooibos? Join mocha for a discussion on tea types, selection, pairing, and brewing. In this class you will sample different types of tea and discuss ways to pair teas with your menu. You will also learn about brewing temperatures and must-have accessories for brewing a great cup/pot of tea.
Service of a Different Pattern
Tea service, whether it is called formal, high, low, or afternoon, is different from other meal services. Although some basic service standards will carry through, tea service has its own unique pattern.
- What do you do if you don’t have enough of one pattern of china to serve all of the guests?
- How should a place setting be arranged?
- Who pours the tea and how? Cream? Sugar? Sweetener? Oh MY!
- What about all those yummies that need to be served?
- Who gets served first? Who announces the courses?
There is so much to table service, but don’t worry, wenday will set the pattern straight and guide you to an impeccable tea service.
Stepping Up Your Service: Protocols and Behaviors in Formal Table Service
Once you’ve gotten the tea brewed and the table set, how will you serve? Is a smile all that matters to your D-type, or do they want something “more”?
- Will you have high or low protocol teas? What’s the difference?
- What kinds of protocols can you and your D-type establish for mindful service?
- How does serving groups and with a group of servers change established protocols?
SpankyRae will discuss the elements you will need consider for your service at table and review protocols and behaviors you can incorporate into your D/s dynamic.
